Why these work
What you get
High-security key locks
Barrel key locks with a flush hinged cover plate so you are not bending down to unlock.
Fully welded caps
Caps are welded rather than pop-riveted, so the head of the bollard stays put.
Galvanised & powder-coated
A hard-wearing outdoor finish in safety yellow, black, stainless or a custom colour.
Supply or supply + install
Buy online and do it yourself, or have our team core, set and finish on site.

Stop unauthorised cars from parking across your driveway or entry point. National Bollards' removable driveway bollards let you lock down access when you need security and lift the bollard out in seconds when you need to bring your own car, caravan or trailer through.
Why Use a Removable Bollard on Your Driveway?
A driveway bollard protects parked vehicles from accidental or unauthorised impact, secures private lanes and access points, and stops opportunistic parking on your property. Because it's removable rather than fixed, it doesn't get in the way of your own vehicle - unlock it, lift it out, drive in, and lock it back down.
Recommended Driveway Bollards
- 90mm removable bollards - our most popular driveway option. Galvanised or stainless steel with 5mm solid steel walls, available in black or yellow, with Class 1 reflective bands for visibility at night.
- 114mm Platinum removable bollards - a heavier-duty option for wider driveways or higher-traffic properties, with a floor-mounted storage holder so the bollard has a home when it's out.

How Many Bollards Does Your Driveway Need?
Keep the clear gap between posts, or between a post and the edge of the driveway, at 1.5m or less. Most cars are wider than 1.7m, so a gap under 1.5m leaves no way through.
- Single driveway, about 3m wide: one bollard in the centre leaves about 1.45m either side.
- Double driveway, about 6m wide: three bollards. Two posts leave gaps near 1.9m, wide enough for a small car to squeeze past.
- Height: 900mm to 1000mm above the ground keeps the post in view from the driver's seat and mirrors.
For car parks, roller doors and shared walkways, see our bollard spacing and height guide.
Installation for Driveways
Most driveway bollards are installed with an in-ground sleeve, core-drilled or cast into new concrete or asphalt for a clean, flush finish when the bollard is removed. National Bollards offers full supply and installation, or supply-only if you have your own installer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a driveway bollard damage my concrete or asphalt?
Installing the ground sleeve involves core-drilling or setting the sleeve into new concrete or asphalt at the point of installation. Our team can talk you through the process for your specific driveway surface when you request a quote.
Can I choose where the bollard sits on my driveway?
Yes. Position depends on your access needs, but keep every gap at 1.5m or less so a car cannot fit through. Send us your driveway width and a photo when you enquire and we will recommend how many bollards to use and where.
Are keys interchangeable between bollards?
Keys can typically be supplied keyed alike, so one key operates every bollard on your property - handy if you're installing more than one.
